I read an interesting article that basically said that the sales of beer has gone down with the economy. http://grizzlygrowler.com/?p=397 The types of beer mentioned in this article are high end drinks that are to be savored. The article does refer to the rising prices of hops and barley. However, with the price of gas significanlty down, I wonder this must not be enough to offset the costs?
Yikes! I don't know what to think now that we don't have enough money to spare to drink a bit of happiness after a stressful day at work. As I live in Wisconsin, the beer drinking capitol of the US, there are dozens of small family owned craft breweries that will be affected by the shrinking economy. Most of these brewereis market regionally and are affected directly what is happening around them.
Hopefully the economy will pick up and beer will be back on its feet again.
